Vintage inspired - Guest design Spot

Hi there everyone and a warm welcome to
my blog
Recently I created this Vintage Layout for
Our Creative Corner
I was both thrilled and excited to be asked by Kerstin
to Guest design for the month of November.
thanks so much Kertstin.
The challenge for November is
to create something in a vintage style,
using a favourite photograph.
I love Vintage and I decided to use a photo
of my beautiful Grand daughter Ella Jai .
the Sepia photo has been de-saturated to add to the Vintage feel .
this beautiful shot was taken by my daughter ,
Tara of Simply Photographic

Below is my completed Layout .

I feel by having a kraft BG , to me this immediately suggests Vintage .
All things Vintage and aged
Old Keys, Sepia photos , chipboard, earthy/rusty  colors, clocks, kraft and lace .

the second tag is folded around the edge of the Layout .

 Begin layering and adding embellies
the chipboard has been colored with Distress stain / Rusty hinge .
stamping and layering add interest and texture
and also add to the Vintage feel .
I like to position my embellies around the page,
moving them until I am happy .
Finally I adhere them with glue .
I altered the metal clock with black paint to follow the
Vintage theme.
the Dusty Attic chipboard title has been altered with Rusty Hinge Distress stain
and then I stamped with a Kaiser stamp in black soot distress ink .
apply Ranger Distress Crackle Paint /Clear rock candy ..
I use a palette knife as I find then there are no brush marks .

when the crackle is dry
( I usually leave to dry overnight for the best effect )
I apply some black paint by dabbing over the crackle and then wipe
the excess off with a wipe .
love this effect .
Another look at my finished Vintage Layout .

I hope you are inspired to try some of these vintage techniques
I feel the crackle gives a rich interesting effect .
thanks for looking at my work .
bye for now until next time xoox

My creative space.

Over at Maja Design each member of the design team
have been sharing where they create.
Today is my turn and I am sharing with you
MY creative space .
I have only a tiny space where I create.
so here we go .
Follow me as we walk through my space.
I must confess that I gave my space a clean up before taking the shots .

My Creative Space
My tiny creative space has lots of light pouring in and overlooks my garden.

works in progress

these drawers hold my stamps masks, punches, distress inks,
embellies, chipboard.

A few steps from my main creative space I have this storage area /cupboard.
it is the size of a walk in pantry and I can keep so much "STUFF" here and one of the things I love
is being able to close the door, especially if it is in a mess !!!

more photos, and storage.
 my messy paint palette .
I am very fussy about my brushes .
I also do water color painting, Pen and wash sketches and pencil  drawings .

These little metal tins hold my bits and pieces .
they are magnetic so there is no sliding and moving .
 love these xoxo
my gorgeous little shabby chic drawers. Holding some of my inks and paints.
dyed twine ( with onion skins) .

rust dyed fabric and twine .

I love to sip tea as I work and then
the wet tea bag can be used to create splashes on my work.
My selection of pastels I have kept from my arty days .
this little storage nook is one of my faves .
me working at my faithful Bernina sewing machine.
lots of layering and stitching .
 stepping outside
this is one of my fave spots in my garden
just one step outside my creative area.

Thanks so much for walking with me .
hope you enjoyed the tour .
My space is having a makeover in the next few months
cant wait to have more drawers and shelving .
will share with you when it is completed .
lots of love from me
